This particular tape, which was first composed by Frank Chacksfield, was a replacement for Victor's Theme on BBC1 in January 1986 and remained in service until October 1990 when it was replaced by Hollywood And Daydreams. For a short while on BBC2 this was used until the second version of Jog Trot had replaced the first in the late winter of 1986. The titles featured here include: 1. Sound Of The South; 2. Sea Mist; 3. Slipped Disco; 4. A Touch Of Gold. The fifth track was familiar: for it was used as the title track of the tape Cuban Boy used on BBC2 in October 1989 and some tracks were also in use on Horizons and on Cuban Boy itself. Enjoy!!!!

  • Hi there, what memories,!

    I started as a T/V Radio Engineer in 1958

Only 1 channel then BBC and people bought ITV convertor boxes!

Then good old 625 with BBC, then COLOUR!

Where can I find the BBC colour test films with the polypropolene cables, Tetse fly etc, it was great..

Convergence? What do the public know about centering the "x" in the so called middle of the card with the blue magnets etc.....Love your site. Gordon

  • this was very good - and interesting to hear that it made it into the 1990s. I barely remember it!
