Teo Repel (1916-2007) taught choral music at John Oliver High School for 25 years (195-1980). During these years his choirs were among the most prominent in Vancouver and Canada. In 1961 the John Oliver Senior Mixed Choir was awarded the George Matheson Trophy for the best amateur choir in Canada. In 1971, the choir was presented the BC Centennial Award by Queen Elizabeth II for the best amateur choir in British Columbia. In 1970 the John Oliver Brahms (girls') choir finished second in the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod in Wales. Teo Repel died on June 22, 2007, having inspired hundreds of John Oliver music students to develop their choral and singing skills.

Wow--this production, what a neat find for JO's Fine Arts-Music page! Way to go Misters McLeod and Tucker, for putting it together and McMillan for including it. Sends shivers, what one person can do and did--the ripple Repel sent out by influencing all of those people to enjoy life and music, and their influence ... JO 'SCool, then and now, it's neat people that make it so!

I attended JO many years ago and I must say I have to plead ignorance to its rich music history. WOW.
