Riding the Bay St bus northward. There's real gold in the windows of the first building on the left, the Royal Bank Plaza. For a few years after it was built, there was an open space between two floors containing plants and trees, a miniature indoor forest. It was a pleasure to look at, but was removed years ago, unfortunately.
"Originally, there were two floors of banking, open to the public. Two sets of double escalators, rising in opposite directions through the large open atrium, linked them. There was a waterfall that cascaded from the main shopping concourse to the lower level of shopping, with Norfolk pines planted there. The tops of the trees extended up into the lower of the two banking halls."
See picture (the trees grew taller) at http://s711.photobucket.com/albums/ww111/cunningpal/?action=view¤t=...
That open space between the two floor is now the trading floor/area :)
