Distortion Shootout Barber Dirty Bomb vs MXR Fullbore Metal guitar pedal comparison

BY REQUEST. A sample of the http://www.barberelectronics.com Dirty Bomb and the MXR Full Bore Metal box of thickness. The Dirty Bomb is one of my favorites for a high quality, low price boutique distortion. Really not the same type of pedal as the FBM, but I'm always up for a shoot out!

2. Both are good pedals. The MXR seems heavier on the lows to low mids while the mids of the Barbar stand out.

Seems like a win-win either way.

I have both of these pedals, and I actually KNOW how to eq them. The MXR has WAAAAY too much gain, too much treble and the mids are over-scooped. The barber has much more midrange, and a crunchier, tighter distortion. The MXR just doesn't do well in a live setting.

The mxr: Fizz. The barber: Slightly less fizz. Pedals are no good for metal.

these pedals are obviously very different

the fullbore has kinda 'force of nature' power

but the bomb has that pretty 'fullness' - it gets my vote too

(i wonder which one would cut better live with a band)

Sweet holy jesus the mxr sucks tone. I watched your other video and the barber was much much louder and fuller. Hands down the barber is the better pedal.
