New York Philharmonic Orchestra with Arturo Toscanini conducting plays Paul Dukas' famous piece, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" for Victor in 1927. One of my favorite Toscanini 78s that I have in my collection.

I have another Japanese pressing of this record, but this copy sounds much better than Japanese pressing. Played on my HMV 102 portable with Laubscher needle. Hard to believe that the sound came from a Portable phonograph.

  • @merrihew The playing may be better, but you can't say that 1929 sound is better than 1950 sound.

  • Truly amazing! To me the greatest conductor of all time!

  • I wish, to someday, I'll be have same record!

  • This was the recording that got me interested in classical music.

  • Mi sa che il suono qui prodotto, sia il più vicino al reale di non quanto lo sia quello prodotto nei CD.

  • It was actually recorded in November 1929.

  • The NYPhil. and BBC Toscanini records are so much better (both playing and sound) than the NBC records.

  • Awesome! Bravo! TY.
