Focus on your core while staying united with breath and meditative awareness. Tone muscles, enhance abdominal strength and investigate udiyana bandha (flying upward energy lock), a power in your core that raises the flow of prana (life energy).

  • I don't really feel like I am getting a workout in my lower abs, just the top...why is that? Love your videos btw :)

  • @lolpotato93 Try keeping your feet off the floor and pulling your lower abdomen in more - Bryan.

  • Am a newly qualified Freestyle Fitness Yoga teacher and have enough here (and your power yoga) to keep me going for months! (I'll be modifying much of it for my class). Thank you! Inspiring.

  • really good yoga.

  • I am so glad to have found a male yoga teacher! Your videos are great. I always feel challenged and safe following your poses.

  • @BryanJones31 Thanks so much, isn't the challenge always in yoga to keep the shoulders on the back, gets everything chakra-licious! No more neck strain - keep the wonderful yoga coming - Marilyn

  • Hello Marilyn! The next time you are doing those exercises try and focus on drawing the shoulder blades toward one another and keep your chin tucked in. Lift the chest and don't curl into the pose. Try engaging the core to feel a very slight lift of the should blades from your mat. At times we can lead with the head rather than the chest. Keep the chin in line with your chest and retract the scapula. Let me know how that works please and thanks for your question.

  • Hi Derek, I am an "advanced beginner" in yoga and pretty strong, but I was having trouble with the block exercise, reaching for the block and following with the "swimming" movement. I felt a lot of strain in my neck, which I'd like to avoid. Can you help me correct my posture so I take the focus off my neck? Thanks, love your class.
