E meraviglioso ! Grazie mille carissima Ingrid for sharing this wonderful tribute. I was only seven years old when Ettore was taken from us. But my dear babbo was born and raised in Siena and idolized this great baritone.I remember well the many Bastianini recordings my dad always played for me when I was a child. 'Eri tu' and 'Largo factotum' from Il Barbiere di Siviglia' were two of his favorites by this superb baritone,one of the finest of the 20th century.. Riposa in pace Maestro.

I have heard this so often, but never tire of hearing this voice. baritones have come and gone, on record and tape, but nothing moves me as this `eri tu` does, not only a voice of great beauty, but the looks and bearing are ideal for the role. A man who, in his time never had the recognition he deserved, but at least we can say his voice is preserved for the younger generations, a model for all to aspire to, He was unforgettable!
