It was a sin that she never made a film with Astaire. They knew each other and were friendly. He was desperate to have her co-star with him for A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS, but RKO and Jessie's studio couldn't come to an agreement.

Jessie Matthews was our greatest Actress by far of the 30s. Pity her carreer died with the decade. If she had made it to Hollywood she probably would have taken the film industry by storm. Her style and dance routine was unique to her and have you noticed are consistant through most of her films. This and Dancing on the Ceiling are my favourites from Evergreen. Another thing about Jessie Matthews was she was incredibly stylish. I love all her items. I would loved to have interviewed her. Thanks!
