It's unfortunate how the organizers are shouldering all the blame for this. It does sound like the faster runners used up too much water and gatorade. I think the runners farther back should take responsibility for themselves when learning of the forecast beforehand and carry a water bottle. The organizers tried, but they can't take care of 30,000 people in a freak situation like this.
