A day in Boston. First we caught the Lake Shore at Yawkey, then we headed over and caught a Regional at Ruggles. After that we went to Back Bay (video comming soon) and alx2925 and AuroraFoxNEC got on an Acela train while MattProtrains & I went back to Ruggles to catch their Acela plus a few others. A couple hornshows in downtown Boston!

SEPTA did absolutely nothing with their AEM-7s they are just plain jane AEM-7s that were never rebuilt. They are as they were from the factory and are aging just like the rest of the fleet. They still do a fine job though.

The AEM-7s that were converted to AEM-7ACs have 7000HP as opposed to the originals that have 6000HP. The 29 rebuilt AEM-7ACs are: 901, 904, 905, 908, 914, 916-921, 923-925, 927-929, 934-936, 938-944, 946 and 948. I don't know what SEPTA did with their AEM-7s.

I guess the Amtrak toasters have been rebuilt to 7000HP but I had a closeup of a Septa toaster and read the EMD plate on the side. It said it was rated at 6000HP

The P42s have only 3200HP compared to the 7000HP of a toaster or 8000HP of a banana.

Huh I didn't know that. That rarely happens where I railfan. Just set consists down in the Philadelphia section. If there is more than one locomotive usually its a rescue or a move it usually is never needed. Like seeing two AEM-7s, no regional needs 12,000h.p. or 16,000 when you rarely see two HHP-8s.
