@Hervinbalfour what do you think about Malfitano´s version in Covent Garden?
-
@silvercolumn Why do you say that? could you explain more? thank you
-
@silvercolumn 4 years? wow i didn't think there was THAT much to learn about him, but anyways, i love richard strauss

I don't know why people gave you all these negative comments. Stratas interpretation of Salome is considered a benchmark. At least her acting that is. Vocally Stratas didn't have the powere to sing it on the stage. But what she did in the film was amazing.

Alas! My voice will never be big enough to play this role, but at least I can still live vicariously through such artists as Rysanek, which ain't too shabby.

The epitome of ferocious.

This is phenomenal!!! I love Karita Matilla, don't get me wrong, but the complete abandon and power of this performance is without peer.

Hello Andante 735--does this mean you were born in July 1935?anyways,I agree that Rusanek is great in her way,I just think that the filmed version of Stratas' Salome best depicts all what Salome is going through since there are many close shots of her face.

My god you can't know anything about really fine singing. What disrespect - just say you don't like it. Stratas in comparison to Rysanek - that's beyond the boundaries of idiocy - and apparently you live.
-
um. are we listening to the same person? do you know who leonie rysanek is? stratas was always considered a great actress, but never a great singer. rysanek is both.
I studied Strauss for 4 years at college. There is no greater orchestrator in the history of music.
