Polydor master 1493 HDK, rec. Copenhagen, January 11 1940.
Else, Inga, and Grete Kordt (voc) with Peter Sieben (tp), Børge Holm (cl, as), Børge Roger Henrichsen (p), Helge Jacobsen (g), and Willy Sørensen (d) - Bernhard Christensen (ld).
The nice thing about rearranging your collection is that you finally find discs you have mislaid years earlier. Ever since I started uploading on Youtube, I wanted to post this! One of the earliest and finest recordings by Denmark's hottest sisters with the cream of Danish jazz players. Talk about musical youth - this was recorded eight days after Grete Kordt's 14th birthday!

  • Wow. About four months before they were overrun. Must have been strange. Wonder if anyone had any predilections or whatever you call it. Sophie Tucker must have been pleased.

  • Damn this is swinging. Never heard this one before.

  • Fantastic! Thanks for introducing me to these wonderful musicians (and Danish jazz).

  • Thank you for sharing !!!!

  • Great video with Kordt Sisters, the Danish Andrew Sisters during the German occopation 1940-45, when there was no import of 78rpm's from England and USA. I have several of their 78rpm's in my collection. They recorded mostly on Polyphon, but never preformed in public. Only on 78rpm, in a few soundtracks on Danish movies and on the Danish State Radio. Thank you for sharing this great 78rpm. My best compliments. Kordt Sisters existed between 1940-49. After WW2 they made a few recordings on Odeon.

  • Super! I'm lucky to have one of their records as well (on Polydor)... Found at the Brussels flea market.
