Arguably one of the best insulation materials known to man, this demonstration of a space shuttle tile being heated to 600 degrees plus on one side whilst an ice cube is placed on the other side shows why this material is used to protect the Space Shuttle against the fierce heat caused by re-entry to the atmosphere.
