FUNERAL DOOM METAL
'The Divinity of Oceans'
Our boat lurches through damnation
Utter madness embraces me
Faces drawn my starvation
As we dwindle into misery

For a ray of hope we pray
Yet of ruin we are aware
In ports of doom we lay
So I yeld to my despair

I feel the iron surges
Break inside my head
I feel the boiling maelstroms
Tear my mind to shreds

Hence I rue
This oath I swore
As every moment
Last for evermore

This world is turned upside down
By malisons of dire revenge
All fleshly means run aground
Hovering between life and death
All sence fade away

Darkness shall overcome!

Will you sink to ageless gloom!
Will you sigh out your soul!
Will you never find a snug berth!

  • @JoeStrummerAlive

thats funeral doom metal and sludgegrind combine.. \,,/

  • this music is epic when driving in your car in the middle of the night just minding your own business

  • it sounds a bit grind

  • @Thanasis300

That I can work with. Never got to reading Lovecraft (though I should - how does anyone create a character like Cthulu?).

Also, Mastodon did this book no justice. Ahab, however....makes me want to read this whole thing in 1 sitting (with this soundtrack, of course!) after my exams are over.

  • @Israelpwn I understand that =) It's just the sense of abyssal hopelessness woven by this music would work well with Lovecraft's cosmic horror as well.

  • @Thanasis300

Though you can interpret as you wish, their first album was an "unfinished" telling of Moby Dick, and so this album would in theory be the continuation of the Moby Dick story.

  • They know how to create good funeral doom

  • Ahh, AHAB. the finest funeral doom metal bands around!

  • Epic

  • Somehow this music makes me think of Lovecraft's Deep Ones, rising from their underwater cities to claim the sacrifices to Lord Dagon... This is a magnificent band.
