@TheSFCRetired The rate has actually gone up because many people now stop for yellow lights for fear that they get caught in a red, and then get rearended by the person behind them who easily could have made it through the yellow as well.

All the "enforcement" is for is revenue for the city/county/state. No studies that I am aware of have shown a reduction in the accident rate by installing these cameras.

I think they should extend the time without telling anyone, that would fix some issues. I think seatbelts should be installed in buses as well. Normal drivers have no excuse.

If the posted speed is 40 miles an hour the amber should be at least 4 seconds long. That should be plenty of time for the drivers who are committed to pass through the intersection.
