Ok, here is what I have found.
If someone who is undecided, or can see merit to both sides of a contentious issue says so but doesn't give reasons, then people who have settled in their opinion will try and win them over. There may be some agression, but not as much as if the same person then goes on to outline how they agree and disagree with some points of both positions.
If the person biases what they say to say only how they agree with one point, but they still aren't decided, then the people who agree with the bias will try and fully win the person over, and those that disagree will attack, but with some seeing hope and try to win them to their side.
Then there are those that don't like fence sitters because they don't like indecision.
