You wanted feedback? I thought it was creative, but it relied too much on gimmicky patterns that, while they sounded cool, were only a mediocre replacement for true musicality and musicianship, which is what the contest is all about.

yes i see what you mean. i put this together the night before, with some ideas that i had previously. the last two "beats" of this solo were improvised however. but that does not go to say that if something is rehearsed, it is less musical.... i obviously don't think i'm the greatest, i didn't even win. but as far as musicality is concerned, i tried to show different fassets of the drum set by using everything i had... showing that you can use pieces and parts just as well as the whole set.

Yeah man, totally. And like I said, what you threw down was definitely original. Aside from the whole left handed thing, I had never really heard anyone put together some of the patterns and beats that you had, and that, I think, is certainly worthy of merit. Anyhow, best of luck in your journey.

I like it, man, especially the tom grooves. My only suggestion is try to keep the energy level constant all the way through. It was very strong at the beginning, and slowed down a bit in the middle. Still, that was awesome. Keep rocking!

What I mean by that is that your performance was essentially a bunch of very creative and certainly unique patterns in succession. Don't get me wrong - your patterns are totally unique and clean, etc., but the whole performance lacked a certain musically compositional quality. Perhaps, a certain organicism you might say - it seemed like you created, rehearsed, and performed the patterns, but if put on the spot, might not be able to create something as good. Do you know what I mean?

You are definitely a really good drummer, but my only criticism was that this solo had too much hip hop in it.
