This video documents the history of USS Valley Forge from 1949 to 1966. Includes excellent scenes of the ship: aerial views, flight deck action and activities below deck. Good details aboard Valley Forge of shipmates at work and during off hours. Includes excellent scenes of the ship's participation in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
I was on the "Happy Valley" from 1968-70. V-4 division (fuels). She got decommisioned on our arrival in Long Beach, CA. An old but a goody. Had a lot of memories and fun.

My grand father was on this ship too! It's cool to see the place were he worked in his youth.

My Dad was on this ship, too, in 1950, and my Mother died during the Korean War while Dad was aboard.

Nice to see the old ship. My father, the late George R. Murphy (CDR) was a plank owner when she first sailed. After his flying days were over, he was the catapult & arresting gear officer.
Thanks for posting this video!

Thanks, my dad served on the Valley Forge during the Vietnam conflict. It was a big part of his growing up years. I feel a little more connected to him having watched this video.
