This course is designed to equip the beginner with all the rudiments necessary to tastefully accompany traditional Irish music. The tutor will patiently guide you from holding the stick and the drum, and learning the basic stroke, right through to sophisticated patterns and 'fills' on the drum, step by step. The emphasis in this course is on technique. The tutor equips you with the rudiments you will need to develop your own style of playing. You will also learn fail proof techniques to differentiate between reels and jigs and how to follow the structure of a set of tunes in your playing.

@zetalyn1 In 12 lessons Brian pretty much covers all you would need to know about playing the bodhrán. Check it out, it's a great course!

I bought one last year and I've been trying to practice is since. I feel like I'm doing everything right, but I still get a 'dragging' sound instead of getting a nice bounce with the stick off the drum.

Part of my problem might be that I have a cheap older bodhran drum.

I really love playing it though and I'd just like to get a nicer rhythm going.

me too, just bought the bodhran yesterday and i´s just a joy to play this nice instrument. and many thanxx for the online-teaching. it helped me a lot to understand it a little bit better. great online-tutorial!
