@cknaffle DeanMiller has it right, there is an Allison Transmission int here so that is what you are hearing shift just like any other diesel truck we work on.

it does shift it has a allison automatic transmission in it like the chevy trucks come with.

Very cool. One question..... in the 50+ inboard boats I've been in, I've never heard one "shift", yet it appears that this boat is shifting just by listening to it. Is this the case? If so, why?
