I don't know what those are. I can say that, for example, I see younger children playing games that even I shouldn't play. I'm only in my early teens. Do you see it as a step backwards for an adult to watch shows intended a younger audience? A common misconception is that media for older people are always "mature content". The content itself isn't mature, more mature people are able to handle what are in some cases less "mature" content.

A show or movie for grown men most likely will be rated PG-13 (TV-14) or R (TV-MA) which means that little girls won't be watching it or be allowed to watch it. How many 5-10 year old girls were watching the Sopranos or Breaking Bad?
