  • @AndrewKodous however at the 12th hour, it is when Christ was taken down from the cross and buried, the deacons wear on the batrasheel on the red side, aswell as the priests where their bornos and the saadreya, as if it is a feast (but the rites say that the priests are supposed to wear they tonia's at the 12th hour).

so they wear the joyful garments because now we are celebrating the completion of salvation, and thats y the curtains and the covering of the alter are turned to white

  • @AndrewKodous this is the 12th hour of Good Friday. On Good friday from the 6th-11th hour the deacons wear their tonia's and batrasheel's on the blue.black sides as it resembles the mourning that the church is in during this time as it is when:

    1. Christ was being judged and sentenced to crucifixion (6th hour)

    2. Christ died on the cross (9th hour)

    3. Christ still hung on the cross and the solider pierced His side with his spear (11th hour)

  • why are the deacons wearing their batrasheel on the red side?

  • At least the Coptic Church gets their priorities straight. We see Jesus Christ in front of us and not Mary (like the Armenian Church). This is, at least, a half-way decent format more so than the Mariolatry typical of the Armenian Church, specifically and Orthodoxy, generally. This goes to show, that: the Copts are a little better at presentation. There's even a little bit of a panache that the Armenians are missing.

  • May God bless my Coptic brothers and sisters and all orthodox Christians in the world. Greetings from Bulgaria
