And even if they are "gay lovers," how is that relevant to anything? Other than to demonstrate your own "gaydar". In other words, it tells us far more about you than it does about them. Now, go get yourself a life.

Well, even though it is a live recording (all the better), I think it is absolutely stunning. Would love to have been at that concert - one of those special moments. Just lovely.

makes you really appreciate Dolly and Emmy...huh

who is the one lost soul that didn't like this (I assume it is lindawatcher, from the pathetic comment below) ? I've never seen or heard a "bad" version of this incredible poem

Beautiful. I think the camera work leaves a lot to be desired, unfortunately. Did they not realize that Kate took the lead in the second verse, while Ronstadt was singing harmony? Maybe the director was in love with Linda (like many of us back then). Ah, well, it doesn't matter. Still lovely singing of a great song.

What a beautiful song, both the words, music and the interpretation from Linda. This should become a classic and a huge tribute to Kate.

This is perhaps one of the greatest songs for conveying what it’s like to experience the real natural beauty of California for the first time. Written by the Kate McGarrigle and sung with her sister Anna and the great Linda Ronstadt, it just doesn’t get any better.
The mixing is bad on this. The sisters are drowning out Ronstadt's lead. Plus, the piano is leading and dictating in a staid fashion. This is a beautiful song but it needs more emotion in it. It is a little too cold and strict.-jack

@littlejackbubba Firstly this is obviously a 'live' recording so the mix is never going to be up to studio standard. Also its a bit much to criticise Kate's piano playing since she wrote the song and therefore can interpret it as she wishes.
