Public Safety Canada created a so-called synthetic TV outlet called CVNN for Exercise Gold, the biggest security, safety and Games operations exercise before the 2010 Winter Olympics. Former radio personality Michael Morgan portrayed "Sam Spade" and reported from a Nov. 5 simulation of a radiological attack on the Via Rail station in Vancouver. Ex-TV reporter Alyn Edwards pretended to report on-scene from the decommissioned Steveston secondary school in Richmond where teenagers were in a make-believe sabotage of a snow machine with a toxic substance. The Nov. 3 video was shown at the Emergency Preparedness conference.
