Giant Rats Used To Hunt Landmines In Mozambique

Giant rats are being used to detect landmines in Mozambique which continue to kill several people every month, 17 years after the civil war ended. The rats, too light to set off the mines, are trained to smell and point them out to their handlers.

These rats are not only cheap but simply better than any current devices. They are also better than mine-sniffing dogs. Easier and quicker to train, can work with any handler, easy to transport, cheaper to feed and don't run off stupidly and get blown up! lol

Well I have done extensive research on this and what happens is the rat sniff's out the landmine because the landmine has a sort of powdery smell quite hard to describe I guess it would be like gunpowder but quite a bit lighter. And well the rat will sniff it out and then run back to the owner. So they really have to watch the rat while it is doing this. And once they know where it is they throw a baby at the mine. Of course they might miss but it's ok the baby is heavy enough to trigger it.
