When Elvis returned to live performances in 1969 he asked James Burton to put a band together for him. James stayed with Elvis from 1969-77 and played lead guitar in all of Elvis' 1,100+ concerts. Elvis usually called him his favorite guitar player. When he once met Eric Clapton during the early seventies he offered to send over JB so he could teach him a little bit. ;D James Burton's nickname is "The Guitar Hero's Guitar Hero". He is hugely admired by about everyone in the business. The "chickin' pickin'" style he created is legendary. If you watch closely you can see him pick his guitar with two plectrums at the same time which sometimes creates a sound of two guitars playing at once. On a list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists" by Rolling Stone Magazine James is on #20.
