    Just watched a few episodes on Netflix, have watched them all from the beginning there and in other places. Loved/love Barnabus. Ran home from school and ate oreos and drank milk and watched him with great glee. RIP Johnathan. One of the most memorable daytime characters ever.

    Along with what WinterZ said besides the skepticism and courtesy to let him in, perhaps it was another form of shock that prompted her responses. After all how would you feel if a man that looked exactly like the photo of a dead guy you had seen for years shows up at the door.

    It's not just what pac850 said, it's also that she didn't have a cousin that the maid knew about. It would be like some strange person introducing himself as your uncle, when you've never heard of him. The maid is understandably skeptical until he announced he'd traveled a long way to get there. At that point courtesy kicked in and she invited him in.
