If you're in tight hook range you're in a boxer's world. The key is to keep your arms extended so the puncher has to reach to hit you. That gives you room to work on the inside of the puncher's arm.
Great to see hook defense with boxers in mind- they are the ones who worry me most. Question: I usually try and block a hook with a tan sao. Is there a structural advantage to the way you're blocking it, like a biu sau with your pal facing down?
@007rees Have I ever used WC in the streets of NY, CT and Detroit? Yes, but I could be making that up. I did fight full contact though. That I can't make up. Most WC people have NEVER fought but they make all sorts of negative comments about others. Real fighters usually don't make comments because they are too busy training.

@hangzhoujack It all depends on personal preferences. I use the lop sao to unbalance the puncher.
