Hōkūle'a: Big Island Training Sails

Mahalo to Hōkūle'a crewmember Nahaku Kalei for sharing photos from Hōkūle'a's recent journey to the Island of Hawai'i. Crew from Hawai'i Island trained aboard Hōkūle'a in preparation for the worldwide voyage.

Their training is vital to ensure safe passage for the Hōkūle'a Wolrdwide Voyage in which the traditional Hawaiian canoe will circumnavigate the Earth using ancient Polynesian navigation techniques. The crew carry with them the idea that we are all crew members on Canoe Earth and, just as on Hōkūle'a, we need to care for one another an our resources.
