yeah most companies use linux, (or that other free OS cant rmember) cos they can make it run as efficiant as they want cos you can mess with your code,

do you want to emulate xp under linux? just go with xp then, emulated SO are the slowest things in this world

and forget about wine, it's impossible to run 3ds with it. these programs are huge whales hungry of ram and system calls

well I got a new pc but I have 12 gigabyte ram and xp can't use them, so im just a bit confused what to do.

buy a 64bit version of win or use linux and forget of 3ds max

you need 64 bit, 32 bit only work with 3 gb.
