Promotion Video For AC4H

Another Chance 4 Horses is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of equines in need.

This particular Ex-race horse was sent directly to slaughter but was rescued by ac4h.

Give them a new Chance and adopt an ex race horse.

  • that was REALLY well done...wow. That's such a great little video. I love how u put those lines from sea Biscuit in there. very well done.

  • Wow, thank you!

  • Hiya, ive been offered an ex-racer, but it isnt totally schooled on. I was wondering if you could give me any advice wether i should accept the horse and school it on myself, or leave it because it isnt totally schooled?

    Thanks,

  • Make sure you will have the time you need to work with him/her. And definitely do some research about the problems that will come with your ottb.

  • i hav a 3 year old tb mare ex-racer :)

  • hi, sorry to be a pain, but could u send me a message to tell more abo what he is like?

im thinking about getting a ex race horse (it will be my first horse).

    thanks

  • I believe I have seen the name on the alex brown forums are you from there at all? if you are we appreciate all you are doing. I would offer but I have my hands full with one of the 13 warmbloods that needed homes and with willow from avalon mist farms.

  • well.. it depends on its temper....they do eventually grow out of racing, my sister is selling and ex racehorse she got him in a paddock he was in the paddock for four years no one rode him cos apperntly he was physco

ive ridden him b4, but if u look at one u should trial it or not buy it

  • Thx! I have it all set up to take her on June 1 so we will see how it goes! I think things will go great... or i hope they will!!!

  • She sounds wonderful if i had to choose between my boy and another horse i would choose him no matter what even if the other horse was way better. You also probably have a better relationship with her and that goes a long way when ur competing and training. good luck :)

  • balances yet due to a lack of training, and she is sooo flashy to look at, especially when she is in shape. She is built more uphill than anything, though not as uphill as some thoroughbreds. She is very smart, (she could do my precal!) lol jk but she is very sound of mind and sweet and i love her to death really. she is very very attached to me and the vet said she went into a slight depression when she was being used by someone else and not me. Shes my baby girl!! <3

  • Well righ now it looks like I am using my baby(!) cause my coach is actually really excited about her. In my stupid western trail riding days (long past now) i actually took her up for some field races against some of my old friends and a lot of them had thoroughbred types, and I can tell you no one came close to her. She blew them all away. But i know that thats only flat out on a field, and in the jumping ring that is much different. She is a beautiful mover, but no training so not at all >>

  • you'll never know till you try ! but if you want to be really succesful a thoroughbred typically would probably have more potential jumping with how high and getting a fast time but maybe your mustang would be calmer and more reliable...its a dilema thats for sure, let me know how you go ;)

  • Thanks! Yea, I am not worried too much about the experience part, since i have helped and brought quite a few grren horses along myself, and I am going to have a lot of help from a certified trainer, but I am also debating using my seven year old trail horse.... She is classifiably a mustang, although there is debate that she has arab or morgan in her, some paint, and who knows?! We think some heavy horse too, although she is very graceful. the only thing stopping me is can she do it...?
