About thirty minutes ago I am pretty sure St. Louis just experienced a tremor. Please make response videos and tell us your stories.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - No significant damage has been reported in Indiana after an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 struck the Midwest Friday morning.

The quake just before 4:37 a.m. Central time was centered six miles from West Salem, Ill., and 45 miles from Evansville, Ind. It was felt in such distant cities as Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, and Des Moisaid that may represent two different seismic waves.

He said there likely will be some small aftershocks most of which people will not feel.

The quake is believed to have involved the Wabash fault, a northern extension of the New Madrid fault about six miles north of Mount Carmel, Ill., said United States Geological Survey geophysicist Randy Baldwin.

  • You're so calm, I think if it was me I would be freaking out! I live in Ohio, near the WV border & I know we have a faultline nearby. It is really scarey to know this could happen anytime!

  • The only thing I did was got up and looked outside to see if a helicopter was near our house. Then I went back inside, talked to my brother, and we concluded we had just had an earthquake. However,my first thought was that I was having some kind of attack or something or was losing it maybe. My second thought was helicopter. It was not until I talked with my brother that the idea of earthquake came up. It was scary though. I just did not panic.

  • no, nobody get hurt, and almost no damage, just in a few schools, but we are used to earthquakes, my city its located in the border of california

  • I am so glad to hear that nobody got hurt. Of course I would be happier if a way could be found to stop the quakes. Unfortunately, man has not achieved that level of technology.

  • i live in a city in mexico, named Mexicali, in february we experienced more than 800 earthquakes in 2 weeks, 7 of them were 5.0-5.5

the rest are about 4.0-4.5 and 3 and below

  • Your city must have sustained a lot of damage then. Did anyone get hurt?:-/

  • I do believe I will do that as soon as possible because I believe America is in for a lot of different kinds of troubles. However, I do believe that God's people will be blessed through it all. Take care.

  • I don't know why everyone keeps saying Missouri. It was the Wabash Fault near West Salem, Illinois. Which is near Evansville, Indiana.
