Volunteers release 5 turtles back into the wild at 'the Pass', Byron Bay, Australia, on March 30th, 2009, after rehabilitation from injuries and disease experienced due to human impacts. One is a 60 year old Green Turtle called Iris. Two of the juvenile turtles released are Hawkesbill Turtles, currently listed as critically endangered. Australian Seabird Rescue staff, volunteers and supporters are carrying out important work in the "Make Turtles Count Project", protecting native marine wildlife, working with minimal resources and good local community support. Byron Bay dive boat operators provide support in the releases and monitoring. Filming, music and production by Peter Cuming, Rare Earth Productions, April 2009.

  • Grat stuff!

  • Great work! Thanks for the film:)

  • Inspiring! So good to see people giving wild animals such time and energy. One of the biggest dangers to turtles is eating plastic that litter the ocean. Makes you realize that a simple action like picking up a plastic bag from the beach can save a turtles life!
