@elberton76 I have used the laser to make templates, and send the dxf file via internet back to the office for the cad drawings, but they are expensive and if your just starting out than this is definitely the best way!

please don't think i'm being overly critical, but in 2009, i don't think anyone can be as productive without going digital or laser, we have 4 of the proliner set-ups, and i've got to tell you it makes life soooo, much easier,plus the homeowner usually is blown away by the set-ups with our in-truck plotters,we used luane and plastic strips in the past but with our cnc bridge saws and our straight cncs it would be impossible to keep up with production,having to digitize every physical template

What material are you using for the template?
It's a special cored plastic cut into strips. It doesn't absorb any water, unlike the balsa wood typically used for this. Helps keep the shapes and measurements true.
