You guys are lucky you weren't going right down the middle on a really fast ebb punching into large swells --- you get the mother of all tide rips/overfalls right there. Lots of commercial fisherman refuse to pass off of Slingsby on a strong ebb tide because of that. I kayaked it and it was bad, but I stuck close to shore and was ok. I went north to Burnett Bay. Great place, eh? I loved it.
