Whoa whoa whoa, wait a clip. Before the guillotine, I'm pretty sure beheading came first and then the guillotine came into effect. But wait, it can't stop there, can it? I'm almost certain there were/are more ways of execution out there that we may not have seen yet.

@AllieXii Interseting. When I took my cat in to be put down, they simply gave her an overdose of medication and that stops the heart after they lose consciousness. In fact, my cat was asleep after only half the dose.

@volcom13xx Keep in mind that not everyone who gets executed is guilty of committing a crime. Yes, I know that more guilty people are executed than innocent people but that's not enough. Innocent people should not die horrible deaths for crimes they didn't commit and as long as capital punishment exists innocent people will continue to die no matter who carries it out.

@Stealtht6 - a lot of prisons are privately owned, so the budget is priority one. They get government grants and donations to keep the facilities running and pay the guards. Because the goal is to kill, they put less funding into expensive anesthesia meds. This, among other compromises in the prison system, basically increases the amount they can pay guards, councilors, judges, executives and CEOs...I may be wrong, but if I had to guess, that would be my assumption.

Why don't they just give you 10X the dose of the sleeping drug?

Bullet to the brain would be a lot better.

lets go back to the guillotine, looks fun, sounds fun, seem painless....and makes a fucking amazing show
-
well what about a bullet in the head, not much chance of a fuck up then
When Penn and Teller want to get serious, they really don't fuck around.

@volcom13xx Exactly, the real debate is not over whether they deserve an excruciating punishment. Murderers most certainly do. Its about whether our government, or any court, can be trusted to 100% accuracy in dealing out the penalty. We can't compensate for accidentally executing an innocent person.
