"On With The Show 1932" - Selection Part One.
Jack Payne & His Band.
Recorded London, April 1932.

My all time FAVOURITE selection of the 1932 Lawrence Wright successes out of the many versions which appeared throughout the thirties.
The tunes are as follows;
'The Little Toy Soldier'
'With all my love and Kisses'
'Day by Day' vocal by Bob and Alf Pearson.
'Sailin on the Robert E. Lee'.

1932 PERFECTION!!!.

  • What a fantastic machine and deep sound! Around 1938 ? Tonearm must be heavy, I am afraid.

  • This machine was made in 1937 and was a wedding present for a dear old friend of mine. I am the second owner in 71 years!!. Dont worry, I have two copies of this wonderful record!!

  • Superb record, and what an INCREDIBLE machine! The lush tonal quality and strong bass is unbelievable - given how well it comes across in this video, I can only imagine what it sounds like in person! Lucky man!

  • thanks for the demonstration! Mine is from 1932 but most parts were te same.

  • This is an absolutely excellent interpretation, sounding perfectly well on this gramophone!

  • Two careful owners as it sems to play as well today as in 1937,and looks so nicely polished.I agree,perfect early 30s tunes here,especially "Day By Day".
