This project took off as a matter of urgency. It all started with the observation that women--real women--are an endangered species on television, one that is being replaced by a grotesque, vulgar and humiliating representation.
We sensed the enormity of this loss: the erasure of women's identity is happening right before our eyes, but without a proper reaction, not even from women themselves.
This led us to select television images that share a common manipulative exploitation of the woman's body, to let people know what is happening--not only people who never watch television, but especially those who watch it but "don't see."
Our aim is to ask ourselves questions, and to pose questions about the reason behind this erasure, a real "pogrom" of which all of us are silent spectators. Our project grants special attention to the erasure of adult faces on television, to the use of plastic surgery to erase any sign of the passage of time, and to the social consequences of this erasure.

I have been living in different countries and I left Italy some years ago. Unfortunately if you live in your country and you see from the age of 5 this images on Tv, you think it is normal! You do not think differently simply because you can't compare and contrast with other foreign channels. When I started seeing on other foreign TV that not all the people are beautiful on TV I started understanding what's going on in Italy. Someone should stop this! I do not know how ...

No, Berlusconi was not the cause, just a symptom of the culture we live in, of porn and demeaning of women through fashion and media, we almost don't even notice how bad it has become because it was gradual, it was the sum of all the times we didn't stand up and said 'ENOUGH' and as this documentary says, women now have become the system watchdogs to make sure we all walk the line as we look at each other through the eyes of men to assess our 'meat market value' and give or withdraw our approval

Most fathers do not want their daughters to dress or act in an openly sexual way. The diminishment of the male role in the family has given young girls freedom to dress and act anyway they want. Their sexuality is power over men until they find themselves getting older and replaced and then they turn into those screeching hyenas this documentary mentioned.

Yeah I guess you're right. Italian television is something crazy. Even in programmes that also children are watching there is pretty often the same formula: a middle-aged man in a suit and one or several young girls wearing ludicrously short miniskirts or small bikinis. What kind of example do all young people watching these programmes get? I guess not too good.

Hi Everybody !!! I'm an Italian girl and this comment is for all of you foreign people .

I don't agree whith some of you who say which is all Berlusconi's fault.

I think it is a typical way of generalising , especially from abroad. We had these kind of problems before him and we still have these stupid problems now that he's not at the power.

I'm sorry, i really hate Berlusconi but he 'a just one of your worst problems.

I think Berlusconi just underscored an attitude of machismo that had been simmering in Italy for years. He legitimized it. I had no idea things were that bad there.

I that last scene, right when they were turning her around, it looked like she was covering her face in humiliation. That and the part where that girl asks for fathers to text/call in to vote if they would like to see their daughter naked on a calender were the worst for me. What the hell kind of question is that? What kind of television culture, or any kind of culture, allows for that to be acceptable?

The media is bought and paid for, should it be any surprise that women appear this way? What is worse, attractive women in swimsuits or corporate liars controlling news media?

To the idea that women can not show their face, look at the extensive makeup of some of the male presenters. To the idea that there are no televised female role models, compare that to some of the violent action heroes or irresponsible sports starts.

Television is stupid, so are the masses; you do not have to watch it.
