Charging Handle Basics for Morons

Just had to show a dumbass that the charging handle works in the closed or locked back position to charge the ar-15. he thinks that it only works in the closed position LOL. i love kids and there call of duty information.

What i'm saying is that the bolt catch not working would likely cause the charging handle to not work, because the bolt itself is most likely jammed. In which case you would have to use the forward assist. if it was SPECIFICALLY the bolt catch that failed (which can happen when you over-lube, and it gums up with dirt under the bolt catch) then obviously you have no choice but to use the charging handle, yes.

You CANT charge the handle to reload, because the bolt is back. Well, you can, but it would be a limp charging handle, and it has no purpose except for loading the first round into a gun after the guns bolt has been set forward while the chamber was empty.
