Charted at #5 in Billboard in October 1952. In the UK, this song charted at #3 for Muriel Smith in May 1953. Other chart entries: #8 for Mel Carter in June 1965 (#1 Adult Contemporary), #58 on the Country chart for Johnny & Jonie Mosby in 1968, #43 for Bobby Vinton on the Adult Contemporary chart in 1977, #60 on the Country chart for Micki Fuhrman in 1980 and #11 in the UK for Gloria Estefan in December 1994.

Original Billboard review: "Here's a beautiful new ballad (despite its bombastic title) which Miss Chandler (Eve Young) projects with a great deal of feeling to a "heartbeat" tempo in the backing. It also features an interesting use of the multi-dub technique. Side could garner plenty of attention if exposed." Billboard rating: 79 out of 100.

Written by Harry Noble.

B-side is "One Dream".

  • You are right in stating that Karen had two charters in 1948. I didn't realize that she recorded under a different name and the entries are both listed under Eve Young as you suggested. I will assume that Wikipedia is likely right about the 1953 and 1954 entries as well, so I will update my description by taking out the line about this being her only charter on the pop charts. Thanks for the correction!

  • Wikipedia disputes your claim that this was her only chart entry on Billboard's pop chart. It says she had a couple of hits in 1948 (under the name Eve Young) and reached the charts with two other songs in '53 and '54 respectively. While the article doesn't specifically say these reached the "pop" chart, usually when the name of the chart isn't mentioned, we are to assume it is the pop chart, and the wording seems to suggest the same.

  • What a great song.

  • Had to listen more than once. Very good!
