We got a little bored one afternoon so decided to have a little fun with thermite. We used sparklers as the fuse, might use a longer fuse chain next time to give us more than 3 seconds to get out of there.

  • best video using thermite iv seen ...nice job guys:)

  • thanks man. :)

  • never use water to attempt to disable a thermite reaction. to quote :

"Mixing thermite with water can be counterintuitively dangerous, causing a phreatomagmatic fragmentation explosion. "

  • This I know, i've seen ice explode and send dangerous shrapnel flying around the place. We only doused it after the violent reaction had finished and it was just a smoldering heap.

  • Good thing you had your safety mochos on.haaaaa

  • hehe, yeh, a bit of a rushed backyard job really.

  • Water and thermite. Nice. Normally I would make fun of someone for being so foolish. But seeing as you actually waited for the reaction to go to completion, I see no reason to do that.

  • some people are a bit confused on the setup here. basically we have the ladders to suspend a ceramic pot. so that the thermite could release through the hole in it, and onto four over trays on the ground, however not long after lighting, the wires holding the pot up disintegrated and the pot fell making a mess of everything.
