I'm still going to stick with the good old mono

this video is true in most parts, although mono can be very good in some occasions:
for beginners, good all around line, topwater. And it is cheap plus you can use it for everything

@Ryan0Ebbers I watched this video and I laugh so hard when he tossed the Mono away. At least he's not telling lies. Hahaha! If you're cheap and you just want something for your kids to fish by the shore. Yeah, Mono is a great choice.

@30secfisherman Braid knots slip really easy so you have to leave a good amount of tag. Fluoro knots dont slip and as long as the knot is tied well it will be fine... also who the fuck would use 20lb+ mono or fluoro for standard techniques? People flip, pitch, and punch with 20lb.... dumbass. Learn something about fishing before trying to inform people. Your just going to fuck their skill up.

Ok you can't just say that mono is shit and then say to get 20-30 pound test or higher, it all depends on what your fishing for, if your going for crappie you need around 4 lb test and bass 10 is good its all on the fish and type of rod..

wow...... Really?! come to the midwest and ill outfish ya with my mono lol

What would you suggest I do with my mono when I am fishing for trout? 30lb test for a 14inch trout? that is overkill. or 30lb test for a Bluegill...You made a good point but you didnt explain who your audience should be. LIke, hey if you are fishing for catfish get 30lb test.
Who ARE you?? What did you miss about getting out and fishing in 30 seconds?? If you already have 20 different lines then you are too late. Your mistake not mine. For people who haven't a clue about fishing let alone can name a fish ... you should have viewed my videos LONG ago!

Nope, I have yet to find a professional/guide -- with lots of beginners -- NOT using braid. Beginner? Sure, stick him with line memory, stretch, short life, knot slippage, low strength @ diameter ... I bought 150yds of Stealth for $12 @ Walmart -- enough for TWO rods (if you use mono for backing!) -- hardly a ball-breaker

Thank you! As a red-blooded Amurikan, I may not agree with readers/watchers, but I'll defend their right to their insufferablly incompetent opinions that bore the rest of us out of our seats ...

Since my site is obviously geared to beginners, you must be catching bluegills. A beginner has an offshore trip as a bucket list item One is fishing mono then because it is the only line clunky enough to put up with the abrasion of reefs and wrecks.

Braid is bad for reels with plastic spools, or rods with plastic guides (you know, the kind beginners usually start with?), it bites into the plastic, causing grooves that diminish casting distance and damage the reel, rod and the line itself. Braid is also a hazard anywhere you may hang up in cover or on rocks. It can not be broken off at the rig as with mono and typically must be cut at the rod tip, leaving a long trail of line in the water. Braid is highly visible as well.

@KrysNolatari PLASTIC?? I am not respooling braid on a Bartbie spincast kit, Think Shimano -- $30. If I get a break it is on the fluoro leader -- not the braid. The purpose of 50lb braid is NOT to hang up -- certainly as much as any other line. Visibility is over-sold; most fly line is neon orange or green.
