As a group of astronomers has reported about the discovery of a new planet possibly inhabitable close to the solar system, space entrepreneur Jeff Manber has told RT why he thinks the discovery is so exciting.

The planet is close its 40 light years away. Its not that hot 400 degrees and it has water, it seems to have an atmosphere, Manber said.

Moreover, he added, this is a low-budget-project, its called MEarth. Its not something being done by NASA, its not a multi-billion dollar project. In just a short period of time, using small telescopes, they discovered a planet that looks like it could support some forms of life.

  • What the hell is she talking about? Stupid fucking reporter. They found a new planet, and she's all like: THE END OF WORLD 2012!! What the fuck is wrong with her? Then, when he starts to talk about the possibilities of planet sustaining life, she ask: so, do you think this planet could be inhabitable? WHAT THE FUCK? HE JUST SAID THAT YOU STUPID BITCH!

  • The fuck? We should be happy we have somewhere to go that we have no way of getting to and is 400 degrees. We...are... saved.

  • if there is microscopic life there, it is already amazing... and ONLY 40 light years away!! it seems we have a crowded universe out there...

  • @MrSevenworlds Not necessarily because the pressure would be arguably twice as great which changes the boiling point of water. So there is a good change there would be liquid water on kepler 22b

  • 9,460,800,000,000 kilometers x 40

.......and he said its ONLY 40 light years away........

  • sheesh.. There's no such thing as "The End of The World"... in my opinion.. We have what we call "The End of Days" or something(quote and quote, just heard it from someone).. "The End of Days" is from the period from Christ's resurrection up until now.. Until Christ does not return, it is called the end of days because Christ is our salvation. The world will not be destroyed, because God promised that He will not cause destruction again.. We will just experience "natural phenomena'... :)

  • Full of "it " If its 400 degree,s there is no water on it. Does,nt water boil at around 90 plus degree,s cel. Therefore this is a lie.. To even think that a hot planet has a body of water on it of any size is not very smart!!!

Always thought i was smarter than most scientist/astronomers.

  • @cupcakeslovecake it not gonna to the end of the world!

  • ahhh werreee going to die!

  • Great, lets look for other planets to destroy, while we our incapable of looking after our own

  • 40 light years is not "close to our solar system"

Even the Gliese system is half that distance away from us and it has exoplanets with possible atmospheres and water.
