The true more or less untold story of how the first sophisticated fan base action campaign went where no tv producer had gone before and changed the course of popular culture.
I wasn't old enough in the 1960's to watch Star Trek in its original run, but was a huge fan in the 1970's during syndication. Thank you so much Mr Spinrad for this insiders story. I wonder what would have happened if NBC and Paramount knew how BIG Star Trek was going to be, if they'd have cancelled it. Star Trek Remastered is incredible, but can you imagine Mr Spinrad if the show would have made its 5 year run? Now that would have been INCREDIBLE! :)

This pretty much confirms the "inside" story presented by Justman and Solow in their book, "Inside Star Trek," including the shuttle story.
Thank you for providing your side of things. It makes the mythology of the infamous "letter writing campaign" a little clearer.

Few rough cuts in there, but good story.
Thanks!
