I remember hearing this song when I was 12 or 13 years of age and growing up in Montreal, Canada. The pink colour of the album cover when I saw it in a local record store always stood out in my memory. Great song, too!

fair enough Esveldt, I refer you to my comment where I stated that I accept that who Dylan was singing about and a real guy who did seemingly exist, were not the same, there's a certain similarity though, thanks, glad you like it

dylan and his inspiration woody guthrie both wrote some wonderfully moving songs about outlaw heroes - this one and dylan's cover of woody's pretty boy floyd come to mind especially! :-)

It is probably the inspiration behind this song, but it sounds completely different so I think the "plagarism" is justified.
