My former band (The Grey and Green) playing for some of the families visiting our college for Parent's Weekend. Yes, I realise that some of my notes were a bit flat in the first tune but my hands were shaking so badly that it's a wonder I didn't drop the whistle entirely. And the camera died halfway through the second tune, so apologies.

Please try to keep any comments/criticism on the nice note. We were just starting off and, yes, I do realise that we were not perfect. Thanks!

  • Hey, this is awesome! I am just starting out on the penny whistle and my mate is teaching me. He is doing the violin's part on his whistle and having me do back up then bust in with the part the girl did on the whistle in your video. We were trying to reverse engineer the notes from the movie "last of the mohicans" but I think we got them wrong for the whistle's part. How would I be able to find the music that you used? I really don't know a lot about music, thats why I'm asking. Good Job btw!

  • @goopymoscow My friend (the one playing the bodhran) actually took down the notes by ear. We all added our own twist/flair/interpretation to the notes for out respective parts. So, really, they are not the exact notes from "Last of the Mohicans." However, I can message you the basic note structure that I used for my whistle if that will help.

  • That is awsome. Do you know if the same finger placements would work on my old recorder that I just found recently?

  • I honestly am not familiar with the fingering for recorders. I would assume that it would depend on what key the recorder is in, but I also know that recorders have a couple more holes than whistles, so I'm really not sure. My guess is, the fingering might be similar in some parts but, overall, would likely be different. But I could be wrong.

  • Thats a Whistle? as in Tin whistle? (or at least simular in nature to one?) I've a couple of those to. But mine doesn't sound any where as good as that.

  • Yes, tin whistles. What key(s) do you have? The one in the video is a D.
