In Loving Memory of Juan Hernandez

Juanchi is the son of my adored wife and he regrettably passed away at age 16 a few years ago. I wrote this song for him and thanks to the great skill of the singer Sammy Laz and a composer whom I do not know but whom I admire greatly this song took shape and now is one of my favorites. Although the song may sound sad to some; it is I feel, an song that offers the beauty that he represented in this life and its words and lovely music come directly from him though I never met him. It also represents the hope and joy in life he left behind because although severely sick for most of his life, he lived life to its limits!

It is from the faces, the words, and the actions of his family that I know him and feel inspired by him! This is where the concept of the Lucero came from because he left this world but left a great light behind that lights the hearts of all who know his story. His favorite number was 13 and now that is my and my wife's lucky number and I have him to thank for that as well. Today being Friday the 13 is especially good to debut his song as I think he would be thrilled today!

In listening to this song I hope you come away not sad, but with a sense of revival of life inside you and at night when you look up and see the brightest star in the sky, remember Juanchi's light and make a wish on it because in heaven he shines for us below!
