Winter Trachycarpus fortunei tidy at Hardy Tropicals. 31 year old Trudi Trachy has leaves tidied on a cold December day ready for Christmas lights to be added. This is the tallest Christmas tree I have :-) Christmas lights video to follow shortly.

  • Wow that's huge! Many that size in England? Is that a huge needle palm at the base?

  • @ScottyOn1 It is about 20ft and is my largest Trachy palm, but there are some double that size in Cornwall. The Originals brought in by Robert Fortune in 1840s are now reaching the end of their lives and are around 40 feet tall. There aren't that many taller in the East of the country.

The palm below is a self sown Trachycarpus, is now 11 years old and in fruit itself for the first time this year. They self sow all over the place - lol

  • Your Trachy looks great Dave.

  • @1994jako Thanks Jako :)

  • You don't half move quickly Dave!

  • @YorkshireKRIS I know, it keeps me fit - lol
