Taken directly from the 1966 Kapp (mono) LP, "Fly Me To The Moon and the Bossa Nova Pops", which featured Joe Harnell's hit arrangement of the title track which had reached the top 20 in the hit parade in 1963.
(This album went on to #3 on Billboard's top 200 of 1966).

Forty-seven years later and it is as delightful a song today as it was back then. This classic has been recorded by so many artists, artistes, bands, orchestras and soloists that they number in the thousands.

Further tracks from this LP may also be found here; just search under either Joe Harnell, Kapp Records, Bossa Nova or hcrun.

  • This (Harnell's) version was LIGHT YEARS ahead of its time. I've been hunting for it for years. It's the only thing that pulled me out of a "Classical music only please" frame of mind. Thanks very much for uploading.

  • @Shubael1809 ...."Thanks very much for uploading."

    My pleasure.

This arrangement is certainly a classic.

  • I'm not nearly old enough to have known this when it came out, but it is no less magical and elegant. Though Bossa Nova was a 60s thing, I imagine couples in evening dress dancing in a 1930s Hollywood film.

  • @JonasClark said "I'm not nearly old enough to have known this when it came out....."

    Aaaah.....youth!! :)

Sometimes I wish I was as young as when I first listened to the LP from which this track was taken. :)

Glad you like it and thank you for your comment.

  • This brings me back to the Drive In ... they used to play this as the last song while we were all pulling out of our spaces! Thanks for reviving great memories!

  • @OfficerRobertHall

My great pleasure in reviving those memories for you.

  • Wow! What memories this brings back from my past when my mother had a 45 rpm record of this music from Joe Harnell as well as "Our Day Will Come". This style of bossa nova was really cool or hip from Joe Harnell.

  • Thanks for uploading this tune. I just bought the Kindle version of Joe Harnell's Counterpoint, The Journey of a Music Man.

  • Now I know where I heard this elsewhere: WKRP in Cincinnati, Jennifer Marlowe (Loni Anderson's character) has this as the doorbell tune.

  • @JonasClark You are never too young for a good partner dance!

  • a classic

  • way groovey, pops!!! seriously . . . if you don't move to this, you're dead. I know - some people think this is elevator music . . . no way, dadee-oh!!!!

  • I'm now 65 yrs. old, this song came out when I was about 16, what a nice memory I have of this song. The young man JonasClark's comments on these older song's are not surprising, this is good music, and I hope all young people enjoy what the 60"s had to offer, there are many other song's of the 60's that you may enjoy Jonas!, EXPLORE! rexowens1000
