From March 11, 2011: Japan earthquake, Crescent City, California. Filmed from Pebble Beach cliff top out of the evacuation zone. Cliff is 75+ feet above water. Ocean monitors measure the surges before they reach the coast, so towns can plan accordingly. Crescent City had a devastating tsunami in 1964. This one wiped out our harbor. Our thoughts and prayers are with Japan, her people, and our fishermen who lost their livelihoods.

Pacific Ocean gets sucked out and then surges back in within minutes. This happened many times over the course of the day. This is up for educational purposes.
